Required Documents for Standard Cars
Standard cars are legally classified as registered property in Japan. Transferring or scrapping them at the Transport Bureau requires a Certificate of Seal Registration (Inkan Shomeisho) and your registered personal seal.
You do not need to create contracts or pick up forms from government offices. Our team brings all official pre-printed documentation on inspection.
Required Documents for Kei Cars
Kei cars require far simpler paperwork than standard cars. No registered seal (Jitsuin) or seal certificate is needed. A regular personal stamp (non-rubber) and your ID are all you need for same-day sale and cash payment!
Because there are no government office documents to retrieve, you can complete appraisal, contract, and cash payment on the very same day.
Required Documents for Corporate & Commercial Vehicles
When scrapping or selling fleet cars, commercial vans, trucks, or heavy equipment owned by a company, corporate registry information and representative seals are required. Fleet appraisals and company closure asset liquidation are fully supported.
What to Do in Special Cases & Missing Documents
Moved addresses, name changes, remaining loans, or lost papers? KMC JAPAN supports every single scenario.
1. If You Moved (Address Changed)
If moved once, a Resident Certificate (Juminhyo) with previous address is required. If multiple moves, a Resident Tag Certificate (Koseki no Fuhyo) linking all transitions is needed.
2. If Your Name Changed (Marriage, etc.)
If your legal name has changed, one Certified Family Register (Koseki Tohon / Zenbu Jiko Shomeisho) issued within 3 months is needed to verify former and current names.
3. If Loan Remains (Lien on Title)
If the owner on the shaken is a financing company, a lien release is required. KMC JAPAN contacts the lender and handles the complete release paperwork for you.
4. If You Lost the Inspection Certificate
You can still sell your car without the certificate. As long as plate and chassis numbers are identified, we handle the reissuance agency at the transport bureau for free.
5. Missing Insurance or Tax Receipt
We assist with querying your insurer or obtaining tax certificates from the prefectural tax office so you don’t have to take time off work.
6. Deceased Owner (Inheritance Vehicle)
Requires a Certified Removal from Register (Joseki Tohon), Heritage Division Agreement, and the representative heir’s seal certificate. We guide you gently through every step.
